Building Pools Below Mission Peak

Mission San Jose has been a destination since 1797, when Father Fermin Lasuen founded the 14th of California’s 21 missions here, and it was one of the five towns that joined to form Fremont in 1956. Today it is the city’s most prestigious district, anchored by Mission San Jose High School, one of California’s top-ranked public high schools, and the terrain climbs from the valley floor to estate streets below the 2,517-foot Mission Peak. That range shapes our work. Mission Valley’s 1950s to 1970s ranch and split-level homes take classic family pools on level lots, while the upper foothill streets in Vineyards-Avalon and Kimber Park call for slope-aware engineering: per-lot soils review, cut-and-fill planning, and retaining design that earns the view. Every project runs through City of Fremont Building and Safety at the Development Services Center on Liberty Street, submitted through the Citizen Access portal, and Fremont’s own pool code requires at least two of seven drowning-prevention safety features on new residential pools, which we design in from the start. The fill water comes from Alameda County Water District’s blended supply, so we test and balance the startup chemistry to what actually comes out of your tap.

Mission San Jose Pool Construction FAQs

Yes, and it comes from the City of Fremont, not San Jose: Mission San Jose is a Fremont district. Anything holding water over 18 inches deep meets Fremont’s definition of a swimming pool, and applications go through the city’s online Citizen Access portal, reviewed by Building and Safety at the Development Services Center, 39550 Liberty St. We prepare and manage the full submittal.

Yes. The foothill streets that give this district its views sit on real slopes, so we lead with engineering: per-lot soils review, grading and retaining design, and drainage planned before the first sketch is final. The result is a pool that belongs on the hill, not one fighting it.

Fremont’s own Swimming Pool and Spa Code requires at least two of seven approved drowning-prevention features on any new or remodeled residential pool, such as an isolating enclosure, mesh fencing with a self-latching gate, an ASTM-rated safety cover, or door and water-entry alarms. We build the features into the design and document them for inspection.

Alameda County Water District, on a typical-year blend of roughly 40 percent State Water Project, 20 percent San Francisco regional supply, and 40 percent local Alameda Creek watershed sources including Niles Cone groundwater. Because ACWD blends supplies to manage hardness, we test the actual fill water and balance the startup chemistry to it.

The district’s larger parcels are built for complete outdoor environments: pool and raised spa, outdoor kitchen, fire features, and hardscape oriented to the Mission Peak views. We design the whole yard as one composition rather than dropping a pool into a corner.

Naturally. Spanish and Mission-inspired pools, with tile, plaster tones, and hardscape that echo the 1797 mission and the district’s Spanish Revival and ranch architecture, are some of our favorite work. The design conversation starts with your home’s era and style.
