For most Cambrian addresses, yes: the City of San Jose requires a building permit for anything holding water over 18 inches deep. Applications go through SJPermits.org with plan review in SJePlans, run by the PBCE Building Division at the Development Services Permit Center, 200 E. Santa Clara St (408-535-3555). We prepare and manage the entire submittal.
A residential pocket near Camden and Union Avenues is unincorporated Santa Clara County rather than City of San Jose, so the pool permit goes through the County of Santa Clara Permit Center at 70 West Hedding Street (408-299-5700) via the county’s online Public Permit Portal. We confirm your jurisdiction from your address before design and handle either path.
That is our home turf in the most literal sense. The median Cambrian Park home dates to 1956 (1964 across 95124, per Census ACS data), which means single side-yard access, mature trees, and original fencing. We plan excavation equipment and protection around all three.
