Royal Pools by Adams designs and builds custom inground swimming pools throughout Ardenwood, the planned neighborhood in Fremont’s northwest corner. We are a Diamond Certified pool construction company based about 35 minutes south on Camden Avenue in San Jose, and we have been building Bay Area pools since 1969. Our five-step program takes your project from first sketch to first swim.
Ardenwood is Fremont’s newest chapter written on some of its oldest land. The Patterson family farmed here from the 1850s, their 1857 farmhouse with its grand Queen Anne addition still anchors Ardenwood Historic Farm, and the subdivisions that took the neighborhood’s name went up mostly in the 1980s, with townhome infill following in the 2010s. That vintage is ideal for pool work: attached garages, standard side-yard gate access, and younger tree stock make Ardenwood one of the most straightforward staging environments in the East Bay, though the newer zero-lot-line and townhome parcels call for compact designs and, where an HOA governs, we run its review alongside the city permit. The terrain is the flat Alameda Creek alluvial plain sloping gently toward the baylands, with the Niles Cone Groundwater Basin below, so we assess soils and groundwater per lot before scheduling any dig this close to the bay. Permits go through the City of Fremont’s Citizen Access portal with Building and Safety on Liberty Street, Fremont’s pool code requires two of seven drowning-prevention features, and the ACWD fill water gets tested and balanced on fill day. Commuters who cross the Dumbarton every morning deserve a backyard worth coming home to.

Yes. Ardenwood is part of the City of Fremont, where anything holding water over 18 inches deep meets the city’s swimming pool definition and needs a building permit. Applications go through the Citizen Access portal, reviewed by Building and Safety at the Development Services Center, 39550 Liberty St. The site plan must show the pool’s location, setbacks, and barrier fencing, and we prepare all of it.
Mostly yes. The neighborhood sits on the flat Alameda Creek alluvial plain, which digs conventionally, and the honest caveat is its position over the Niles Cone Groundwater Basin near the baylands: we assess soils and groundwater per lot before the excavator arrives, and plan dewatering if a specific site needs it.
That is the neighborhood’s core housing stock, and it suits us well: attached garages, standard side-yard access, and yards sized for full family pools. Where an original 1980s pool already exists, replaster, equipment upgrades, and full remodels are on the menu too.
The 2010s infill sections trend smaller, and zero-lot-line parcels can rule out standard equipment. Compact designs, plunge pools, and spas answer most of those yards, and where an HOA governs, we manage its architectural review alongside the city permit.
Alameda County Water District, on a typical-year blend of roughly 40 percent State Water Project, 20 percent San Francisco regional supply, and 40 percent local Alameda Creek watershed sources, including groundwater from the Niles Cone basin directly below the neighborhood. We test the fill water and balance the startup chemistry to it.
At least two of seven drowning-prevention features under Fremont’s Swimming Pool and Spa Code, such as isolation fencing with a self-latching gate, an ASTM-rated safety cover, or door and water-entry alarms. We design them in from the first sketch and document them for inspection.
